I absolutely loved Coolie! For me, this is a 5-star film all the way. To be honest, it felt more like a Lokesh Kanagaraj movie than a typical Rajini sir mass entertainer, but that was part of the magic. Lokesh’s signature style, the layered screenplay, and all the twists and turns kept me hooked from start to finish.
Rajini sir as Deva was nothing short of electrifying. The de-aging was done brilliantly—it looked smooth and believable, and it didn’t take away from his performance at all. Seeing him in those younger, fiery moments was pure nostalgia, but then his natural mass screen presence and charisma in the current-day scenes gave me literal goosebumps. Even at 74, no one can own the screen like him.
The music was just top-notch. Anirudh Ravichander carried the soul of the film. Chikitu had that bouncy energy that set the tone right away, Monica was a total crowd-pleaser with its viral vibe and choreography, Powerhouse was exactly what the title promised—high-voltage, mass-heavy energy, and Uyirnaadi Nanbane added a softer, emotional layer that balanced out all the action. On top of that, Anirudh’s BGM was a beast—thundering, stylish, and always giving the right punch to every moment.
Technically, the film was just dazzling. Girish Gangadharan’s cinematography was stunning, every frame looked rich and stylish—especially the action blocks and Rajini’s larger-than-life entries. And Philomin Raj’s editing was sharp, keeping the pace tight and making sure the film flowed smoothly even with all the multiple tracks running. These two really gave Coolie that polished, cinematic edge.
The performances worked beautifully around Rajini. Nagarjuna brought class and style to the villain Simon—I loved his presence, though I wish there was more of him. Soubin Shahir was gritty and raw, delivering a strong negative shade that stood out. Shruti Haasan gave a lot of emotional depth, grounding Rajini’s journey and making those softer moments hit harder. And Sathyaraj, even in a smaller role, was impactful and tied the story’s emotional beats together really well. The cameos from Aamir Khan and Upendra were a total surprise—fun, starry additions that gave the film extra buzz even if they weren’t too central.
But what I enjoyed the most were the twists and turns. Lokesh didn’t go for a straightforward revenge drama; he layered it with mystery, betrayals, and those classic “Loki-style” surprises that kept me guessing. Sure, some parts felt a little overstuffed, but the energy and vibe never dipped.
Overall, Coolie is a thrilling, stylish entertainer that delivers the best of both worlds—Rajini’s timeless mass charisma and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s modern storytelling craft. Add to that Anirudh’s music, the slick visuals, the strong cast, and the rollercoaster plot, and you get a film that’s just pure big-screen magic. For me, this was more than just a movie—it was an experience I’d happily watch again.(Especially for Powerhouse🔥!!!)
